Abstract
This article examines the significance of the 1762 Llangeitho revival as an important milestone in the history of the revivalist tradition in Wales. It was this revival which established the longstanding association between the power of hymnsinging and the religious revival. If later revivals were less spontaneous and more contrived, it was the 1762 which set the model which they sought to recreate.
