Abstract

This article involves a datiled examination of the evolution of the historiography of intelligence in the Soviet Union since 1917. This article, running from 1917 to 2017 in its analysis, asks if the modern Russian state is predisposed, by itshistory and its strategic culture, to have a strong secret intelligence service? In doing so it makes a major contribution to Soviet/Russian studies. Er Cof am Hedd Wyn (1887-1917).
