I am Head of Science at the National Botanic Garden of Wales and a senior lecturer in IBERS.

Research interests

My research focuses on the conservation of plants and pollinators. A key focus is understanding foraging preferences of both wild pollinators and honeybees. By discovering which flowers pollinators use we can ensure that these plants are available in gardens, amenity areas and farmland. I use DNA metabarcoding to investigate pollinator visitation.

I am also interested in conservation genomics, in particular, focusing on threatened plant species and habitats within Wales and Sabah, Malaysian Borneo.

Additional information

I am a senior lecturer in plant and pollinator ecology (25%) and Head of Science at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (75%).

I am module co-ordinator for Tropical Rainforest Ecology and Conservation Field Course (BR30120). This is based at the Danau Girang Field Centre, Sabah, Borneo.
