I work across disciplines, interact with industry and provide underpinning in IBERS for chemical and data analysis. My interests centre on plant cell wall biochemistry, and how architecture and chemical composition affect the efficiency of the conversion of plant feedstocks by thermochemical processes, fermentation by ruminants and also by commercial industrial processing. I am expert in chromatographic/ mass spectrometry, vibrational spectroscopy and imaging, thermochemical analysis, and statistical and chemometric data mining/ modelling. I coordinate the MSc in Biotechnology and teach broadly at undergraduate and post graduate levels.
