I graduated in 2009 with a BSc. degree in Biology from the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia in my home country. I did my thesis degree at the Colombian Corporation for Agricultural Research, AGROSAVIA at Bogota, Colombia, where I studied the association of a gene on milk traits in Colombian Holstein cattle. Then, I worked for the same Institute for 5 years, studying the genotypic diversity of several tropical crops as Physalis peruviana, cocoa, oil palm tree and Canna indica. I graduated from my MSc. degree in 2012 from Javeriana University in Colombia. As part of my thesis I sequenced and analysed the cape gooseberry leaf transcriptome. I started my PhD at IBERS in 2015. My project involves understand the genetic and phenotypic outcomes of plant competition, using as a model Arabidopsis thaliana and GWAS approaches.
