Teaching

My main teaching interests are in the forensic/legal psychology fields and quantitative research methods.

Research interests

My two main research areas are: 1. Multi-media technology in forensic settings & in particular the use of animations in the courtroom;
2. The authoritarian personality & fear of crime - a recently completed project, funded by The British Academy, looking at the impact of social-psychological variables (authoritarianism) & perceptions of crime.

I have worked on a project in collaboration with IMPACT & the Prison Service examining issues relating to engaging offenders in employment & education following release from custody. Other areas of research include offender profiling&psychological explanations of criminal behaviour, including impulsivity/ADHD, including work with Ceredigion Youth Justice & Offending Service to develop a risk assessment screening tool.

I supervise a number of PG candidates in areas including the examination of rehabilitation in the Mexican prison system, the use of Restorative Approaches in schools and Police decision making at the scene of RTAs. I have a strong background in quantitative research methods & data analysis & would be happy to supervise in a range of areas relating to criminology, psychology & law.
