Elin joined the department in 2003 and is a Senior Lecturer. Her research and teaching are associated with the areas of: Territorial Politics and Post-devolution UK politics; Sub-state diplomacy and Nation-building; Sub-state climate change & sustainable development policy; Civil society; Language planning and policy.
She is currently the Chair of the Aberystwyth University Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol; Member of the Department of International Politics Management Team; Director of Welsh Medium Studies, Department of International Politics; Member of Executive Committee and leader on the ‘Language, Culture and Identities’ Theme of the Centre for Welsh Politics and Society – WISERD @ Aberystwyth.
Main areas of research: Territorial Politics and post-devolution UK politics; Sub-state diplomacy and nation-building; Sub-state climate change & sustainable development policy; Civil Society; Language planning and policy.
She is currently involved in the following research grants: • Education, language and identity ESRC Civil Society Research Centre: Devolution, Social and Economic Change and the Local and Regional Landscapes of Civil Society (WISERD). Work Package 2.3 Co-I with Prof Rhys Jones (PI) and Co-Is Prof Lindsay Paterson and Dr Fiona O’Hanlon, Edinburgh University. • Autonomy Movements and Economic and Social justice Co-Investigator H2020 IMAJINE: Integrative Mechanism for Addressing Spatial Injustice and Territorial Inequalities in Europe, Lead Partner: Aberystwyth University. Start date: January 2017 for 5 years. • Language Revitalization and Socio-cultural Transformation AHRC networking grant (January 2017 for 2 years) with Dr Huw Lewis as PI.Her thesis that won the Political Studies Association's Walter Bagehot Prize for the best thesis in government and public administration in 2004-05 and between 2005 and 2014 she was co-editor of the Contemporary Wales journal.
