Chloe Sydney is a PhD candidate in the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University. Her current research focuses on refugee decision-making with regards to return, examining the factors which prompt refugees to return, or not, to their countries of origin. Her thesis draws upon primary research conducted with Iraqi and Colombian refugees and returning refugees, complemented by quantitative analysis of refugee returns worldwide between 1995-2015.

 

In parallel to her PhD, Chloe is working as a Researcher at the Norwegian Refugee Council's Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, concentrating in particular on the relationship between internal displacement and cross-border movements.

She has a masters degree in International Migration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics, and an undergraduate degree in International Politics and the Third World from Aberystwyth University.
